Phillip Wang, Board Chair /Acting Executive Director

Phillip Wang is a UK-born chartered structural engineer with extensive experience in Hong Kong, the UK, and Singapore, where he has worked on major projects like the National Library and the Singapore Sports Hub. Since 2005, he has been involved with NUS’s Department of Architecture, consulting and teaching structural engineering design.

Phillip and his wife, Gail, manage their personal giving and impact investing, focusing on nature conservation, sustainability, and marginalised communities. He remains engaged in the built environment sector, including circular construction and migrant labour issues. He is an avid swimmer, and music lover.

Valerie Lau, Treasurer

Valerie is a sustainability leader, banker and economist. She was a founding EXCO member of Singapore Sustainable Finance Association and the co-Lead for the Natural Capital Working Group, where she led a group of banks and asset managers to publish a white paper on Asian financial institutions’ response to natural capital. She was a member of the Advisory Board of the Singapore Green Finance Centre, a centre of excellence led by Imperial College and Singapore Management University. She also led a team of wealth managers advising wealth owners. She started her career as an economist for the Singapore Government where she was responsible for inflation and GDP analysis and forecasts, and at the Monetary Authority of Singapore. She has been speechwriter for the first three Prime Ministers of Singapore. 

She read economics at the London School of Economics on a Singapore Public Service Commission scholarship and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Valerie is married to Choon Peng and they have a daughter. She enjoys running and hiking around Singapore's parks in the company of friends.

Victoria Giaever-Enger, Immediate Past Treasurer

Victoria is a founding director and served as Treasurer of A Rocha Singapore for its first two and a half years of operations. She has 20+ years of research experience in Singapore working for the Chandler Institute for Governance, the Institute for Defence and Strategic Studies, and the National University of Singapore (NUS). She has also managed an Asia-Pacific Donor Development Fund and led a Singapore-Cambodia volunteer NGO. She began her career with P&G in the UK. She holds a B.A. from the University of Oxford and a Masters from NUS. She is currently studying Conservation Management and has a special interest in habitat restoration. Victoria is happiest when out in nature and learning about our beautiful world

Dr Wei-Leong Goh

Dr Wei-Leong Goh is a full-time family physician, trained at the National University of Singapore, with a deep passion for social justice and human connection. He co-founded HealthServe, an NGO serving under-resourced foreign workers in Singapore with compassion and dignity.

He currently chairs OM Mercy Teams International, leading disaster response and humanitarian aid efforts across the region.Wei-Leong also serves in leadership with Micah Singapore and the Christian Medical Dental Fellowship.

He aspires to be a “catalyst bringing life,” and seeks to live out the gospel through medicine, mercy, and meaningful relationships—often over a good cup of coffee.

Charles Harbottle, Secretary

Charles is a qualified chartered accountant and chartered secretary, who has had a career in financial and corporate services.This was first as an investment banker working in London, Hong Kong and Singapore for UBS and Mizuho and their legacy banks, and for Lehman Brothers. 

Now he specialises in providing corporate services in Singapore.He has had a life long interest in natural history, and specifically lepidoptera since the age of four.His conservation work is currently focused on a captive breed-and-release project for the Queen Alexandra's Birdwing butterfly Ornithoptera alexandrae, endemic to Papua New Guinea. This is the world's largest butterfly and critically endangered.

Charles is a founding director, and the company secretary of A Rocha Singapore.

Lynette Leong, Committee Head - Finance & Audit

Lynette Leong brings over 30 years of global experience in real estate investment, asset management, and sustainability, having served in senior C-suite leadership across funds and public markets.She pioneered sustainability initiatives for award-winning projects while leading large teams with vision and discipline.

In 2023, she stepped away from corporate life to deepen her walk with God, studying at Tung Ling Bible School.Together with her husband Kris, she has marvelled at God’s creation across all seven continents.

Today, she continues to serve through board leadership, mentorship, and as home church leaders at 3:16 Church - integrating faith, wisdom, and stewardship.

Dr Shawn Lum, Committee Head – Conservation Science

Dr Shawn Lum is a tropical rainforest ecologist with a lifelong calling to safeguard biodiversity and awaken love for God’s creation.He serves as Senior Lecturer at the Asian School of the Environment, Nanyang Technological University, researching forest fragmentation and ecosystem regeneration.

His work has helped shape efforts to preserve Singapore’s last remaining forests and ecosystems across Southeast Asia. Formerly President of the Nature Society (Singapore), he has led wide-ranging conservation and public education initiatives.

Through science, advocacy, and service, Shawn labours to bring nature back into the heart of society as an act of stewardship and hope.

Shawn has the honour of being appointed the 18th S R  Nathan Fellow for the Study of Singapore by the Institute of Policy Studies and is giving a series of IPS-Nathan Lectures on “Singapore, Nature and a World Reimagined” to make a case for the value of biodiversity for our City in Nature and beyond.

Dr Theresa Su, Committee Head - Communications

Dr Theresa Su is an intertidal ecologist with a passion for bridging science, communication, and the care of God’s creation.A lecturer at the National University of Singapore, she enjoys engaging with students and fostering curiosity about biodiversity and conservation.

In her role as the current President of the Singapore Institute of Biology, Theresa is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to outreach and support aspiring biologists.She values collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and fellow academics, believing that lasting change comes from working together.

Through her vocation, she aims to share the beauty of creation and inspire a sense of awe and wonder for the Creator.
